I suggest that our members be informed that the new Healthcare Reform legislation requires a physician who provides designated health services (DHS) in his/her own office to inform the patient, in writing, that the services can be obtained at another facility.  Further, the physician must list the other providers of that service within the general area.  Formerly, the physician providing such services was able to do so within his/her office as an exception to the Stark Anti-Referral law.

DHS includes physical therapy; radiology; DME; prosthetics.
